Kandi Burruss was born on May 17, 1976 in College Park, Atlanta, USA. She is a popular American singer and songwriter.
Biography and Career :
She started her career in 1990 in the platinum vocal group Xscape, in which she was the main voice and the songwriter of the group. Two of the most successful songs "Just Kickin' It" and "My Little Secret" were very appreciated by their fans.
In 1999 Xscape disbanded and Kandi continued like a solo singer and a songwriter. She is the one who discovered for Columbia Records Jagged Edge. In 2000 she had a very big success with her song "No scrubs" sang by TLC because they won Grammy Award for Best R&B Song.
In the summer of the same year she signed a contract with Sony Mu
sic and realized a single called "Don't Think I'm Not" which was appreciated by her fans. Her debut album "Hey Kandi..." was number 72 in Billboard Charts and she promoted her second single "Cheatin' on Me".
This remained only an underground one until the rapper 50 Cent made a remix after it. In 2006 signed a new contract with choreographer Devyne Stephens' record label Upfront Records and BME Recordings and made another successful single called "I Need".
She was involved in a scandal with the group "Sporty Thievz" after they parodied two of her songs: "No Scrubs" sang by TLC and "Bills, Bills, Bills" sang by Destiny's Child.
