John Strutt

John Strutt John William Strutt, 3rd Baron Rayleigh (1842-1919) wrote the standard Treatise on Sound, experimented in optics and microscopy, and, with William Ramsay, discovered argon.

Short Biography:

He was professor of experimental physics at Cambridge (1879-1884), and was president of the Royal Society (1905-1908), when he became chancellor of Cambridge University. In 1904 he received a Nobel prize.
