Dick Cusack is her father's name and her mother's Nancy. She has Irish and American origins. She had attended the Piven Theater workshop. Her brother John and she were seen in movies like "Sixteen Candles", "The Martian Child", "Class", "High Fidelity", "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "Say Anything...".

"Saturday Night Live" is a show she appeared several times in. In 2008 she will be seen in the film "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl". With the roles in "Working Girl" and "In & Out" she received Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nominations.
