James Bryce, 1st Viscount Bryce (1838-1922) was a British Liberal politician, and professor of civil law at Oxford University from 1870 to 1893. Short Biography:
He entered Parliament in 1880, holding office under Gladstone and Rosebery. He was author of The American Commonwealth in 1888, was ambassador to Washington 1907-1913, and improved US-Canadian relations.
