Evan Wood was born on September 7, 1987, in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is an American actress and singer.
Wood comes from a family of actors, as her father is a locally prominent actor, singer, theater director. Her mother is an actress, director and acting coach. Her brother is also an actor.
As for her career, Wood began her career appearing in several television films from 1994 onward. After her parents divorced, Wood moved with her mother in Los Angeles County, California. She casted in the supporting role of Jessie Sammler on the television show “Once and Again”, after a one-season role on the television drama Profiler.
Her first major role was in the low-budget 1998 film “Digging to China”. At the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, the film won the Children’s
Jury Award.
As a teenager she made her debut as a leading film actress in Little Secrets, a 2002 movie directed by Blair Treu. Wood played aspiring 14-year-old concert violinist Emily Lindstrom, and she was nominated for Best Leading Young Actress at the Young Artist Awards. She made a great performance in the 2003 movie Thirteen, where she played the role of Tracy Louise Freeland. Her role was nominated for Golden Globe.
Wood received in September 2006 “Spotlight Award for Emerging Talent” from Premiere magazine. She has a recurring role in the second and third season of supernatural drama series of the HBO channel “True Blood” as Sophie-Anne Leclerq.
