David McCallum was born September 19,1933. He is a Scotish actor. He starred in television series in the 1960s.
David McCallum was born in Glasgow. He has a brother. His family moved to London when he was 10 years old. He got a scholarship for University College School in London. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He got his first job in 1951 as an assistant stage manager in Glyndebourne Opera Company. He started playing small roles as an actor in some British films in the 1950s and 1960s. The Rank Organization signed him in 1957. He played various roles in different movies like Robbery Under Arms and many more. He did his first American film in 1962. The film was named Freud
the Secret Passion.
McCullum married in 1957. He married Jill Ireland but they were separated in 1967. They had three sons named Paul, Jason and Valentine. McCullum introduced his wife to Charles Bronson when they were shooting a movie. After some time his wife left him and married Bronson. McCullum married Katherine Carpenter in 1967. They have two children named Peter and Sophie.
McCallum played the role of a Russian agent named Illya Kuryakin in the television series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in 1964 to 1968. This series gave him huge success and he gained a lot of popularity among the people. He was given the co-star status. There were millions of fans who wanted to see him and he received most fan letters than any other actor in MGM history. McCallum received two Emmy nominations during his role in the television series.
