David Herbert Lawrence

David Herbert Lawrence was born on September 11, 1885 in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, England as the fourth child of a miner. He was an important English writer of the 20th century.
Biography and Career :
Between 1891-1908 he learned in the Primary School Beauvale, then in Nottingham High-school (with a scholarship) and after one year of working in a factory he was preparing to become a teacher in College Collage (1906-1908).
He worked as a teacher between 1908-1911 in Davidson Road School, Croydon.
In 1909 he published his first poems in English Review and in January 1911 his first novel "White Peacock".
Lawrence run away in May 1912 with Frieda Weekley, a professor’s wife and in the same year appeared the novel "The Trespasser".
In 1913 was published "Sons and Lovers
".
One year later in 1914 he married Frieda and the volume "The Prussian Officer" was released.
In September 1915 appeared "The Rainbow" which was forbidden immediately.
With straitened circumstances he and Frieda spent the rest of the war in Cornwall, then in London, Berkshire and Derbyshire. When the war was over they left to Italy, in Capri.
In 1920 he published "Women in Love" in New York and "The Lost Girl".
He visited Sardinia in 1921 and wrote "The Sea" and "Sardinia".
Lawrence went to Ceylon, Australia in 1922 and then in New Mexico. He published "Fantasia of the Unconscious", a collection of stories, "England, My England" and the novel "Aaron’s Rod".
In 1923 there were published his most important stories: "The Ladybird", "The Fox" and "The Captain’s Doll"; then "Studies in Classic American Literature", the novel "Kangaroo" and the poems volume "Birds, Beasts and Flowers".
After one year spent in England, France and Germany, in 1924 he went to New Mexico and Mexico.
His father, John Arthur Lawrence passed away in 1924.
In March 1925 he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and lived in Italy.
One year later in 1926 he published the novel "The Snake with Feathers".
He wrote "Sketches of Etruscan Places" in 1927 but was published in 1932, and appeared "Mornings in Mexico".
In 1928 appeared the stories volume "The woman Who Rode Away and Other Stories". In Florence it was published "Lady Chatterley’s Lover", then "Collected Poems". Lawrence lived in Switzerland then in France.
He wrote in 1929 "Nettles", "Apocalypse" in 1931 and "Last Poems" in 1932.
On the 2nd of March he passed away in Vence.
