Danut Lupu was born on February 27, 1967 in Galati, Romania. He is a famous Romanian football player.

Biography and Career :

Danut Lupu started to play professional football at a local team Dunarea Galati in the Romania second league in 1985 and he stayed there for a season and a half.

Scouters from Dinamo Bucharest saw him and transferred him in Bucharest.

He played his first game in Liga 1(Romanian first league on the 8th of March 1987 against FC Brasov and his new team won with 2-0.

He stayed at Dinamo Bucharest between 1986-1990 and played 90 games in which he scored 17 times. THE first 3 seasons finished on the 2nd place and he succeeded to win in the season 1889-1990 to win the champion title and the Romanian Cup.

In 1990 when the Romanian borders where open for football players he was transferred in Greece to Panathinaikos Athens where although he played only in 10 games and scored only one time the Greek team won took the champion title and the Greece Cup.

Between 1991-1994 he played in Greece for other teams like AE Korinthos and OFI Iraklion in 57 games and scored 4 times

In 1994 he came back in Romania at Rapid Bucharest where he staid 2 seasons with a borrow in Italia at Brescia Calcio.

For the next 2 seasons he played at his first team Dinamo Bucharest in 52 games and scored 7 times.

In 1997 when Mircea Lucescu became Rapid’s coach Danut Lupu came back at Rapid Bucharest and after in 1998 they lost the champion title in the last round against Universitatea Craiova but they won the Romanian Cup, in 1999 they became the champions with Rapid after 33 years.

After this he played another season for Rapid and ended on the 2nd place.
In 2000 he left Rapid and his career started to go down. He played for Dinamo 4 games and 1 game in the second league for Laminorul Roman.

In the European Cups Danut Lupu played for Dinamo, Panathinaikos and Rapid in Cup Winners Cup in 19 games and scored one time, in UEFA Cup in 7 games and scored one time and in Champions League 6 games with 1 goal.

He played 14 games and scored no goal for Romanian National Team. He debuted on the 11th of October against Denmark and his most important game was against Argentina at World Cup Italia 1990.
