Cillian Murphy was born on May 25, 1976 in Douglas, Cork, Ireland. He is an Irish film and theatre actor.

Biography and Career :

Cillian was born to an Irish Department of Education worked and a French teacher and he spent his childhood in a suburb of Cork. He has another three siblings and studied at Presentation Brothers College. He first became a rock musician but in 1996 he managed to get his debut in stage acting with a role in "Disco Pigs", a theater play.

Until the early 2000s Murphy starred in movies and theatrical plays in his country and the UK. "28 Days Later" is the movie which made his face recognized internationally in 2003. After this one he played in well known and successful blockbusters such as "Batman Begins" and "Red Eye".

His next two roles brought him lots of fame and recognition together with a Golden Globe Award nomination and a Palme d'Or Award win. They were "Breakfast on Pluto" in 2005 and "The Wind That Shakes the Barley" in 2006. The year of 2008 came with two other successful starring roles in "The Edge of Love", a romantic drama, and "The Dark Knight", the famous Batman sequel.
