Robert James Fischer (1943-2008) was an American chess champion.
Short Biography:
In 1958, after proving himself in international competition, he became the youngest grand master in history.
He was the author of Games of Chess in 1959, and was also celebrated for his unorthodox psychological tactics.
He won the world title from Boris Spassky in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1972 but retired the same year without defending his title. He returned to competitive chess in 1992.
