The Black Crowes are an American, blues/hard rock jam band. The Black Crowes band was first formed under the name "Mr. Crowes Garden" in 1984, Atlanta, Georgia. It was a band that focused on music of the 1970's era blues rock. Although the Crowes have had many members over the years, the main people behind the band have always been the brothers Chris Robinson (on vocals) and Rich Robinson on guitar.
Why are they famous?
The Black Crowes first shot to fame with the release of their first studio album, Shake Your Money Maker, in 1990. This album contained multiple hit singles "Hard to Handle", "She Talks to Angels", "Jealous Again", "Twice as Hard", "Sister Luck", and "Seeing Things". Their debut album hence received multi-platinum certification and eventually sold ov
er three million copies.
The band's cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle" and their acoustic ballad "She Talks to Angels" both broke the Top 30 on the pop charts in 1991.
Black Crowes have sold over 20 million albums. They were labeled by Melody Maker as "The Most Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World" and in 1990, the readers of Rolling Stone named it the 'Best New American Band'.
