Bartolome Mitre (1821-1906) was a Argentinian president (1862-1868). Short Biography:
In 1852 he helped overthrow the dictatorial regime of Juan Manuel de Rosas, and, in 1861, unify Argentina. Mitre encouraged immigration and favoured growing commercial links with Europe. He is seen as a symbol of national unity.
