A Perfect Circle are an American rock super group. They came together in the in 1999 by their lead guitarist Billy Howerdel and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan.
Career:
The initial embodiment of the band also brought together Paz Lenchantin on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, and Tim Alexander on drums. The current line-up includes the likes of amazing artists like Puscifer and Ashes Divide live bassist Matt McJunkins, former guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha; and session drummer Josh Freese, who is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Devo, and The Vandals. In spite of possessing a multicast since inception, the unique stylistic content of their music has always remained the same from the start consistent with Howerdel as composer, and Keenan penni
ng the lyrics.
A Perfect Circle has come out with 3 very successful albums: Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step and eMOTIVe. aMOTION, which is predominantly a CD DVD set, has also been released and contains thirteen music videos in addition to a number of song remixes that Danny Lohner has come up with.
The band went into a temporary break that is a hiatus, in the year 2004. Since then band members have worked on other projects; the most notable being Keenan's work on Tool's 2006 album 10,000 Days. Also in this list are Howerdel's founding of the band Ashes Divide. In an interview in September 2008, Keenan announced “I and Howerdel have been working on new material”, thereby officially ending the group's hiatus. However, they did not begin anything new and have not really become active. This was the case until almost two years hence. In September of the year 2010, they announced that they would be undertaking a tour and subsequently release their new music which may or may not be in the form of a new album.
